This special edition of the iconic Air Max 95 takes its stand-out look from the 1987 Air Safari, the first time safari print was used on a Nike shoe. Legendary designer Tinker Hatfield drew inspiration from an ostrich-skin couch in a window display. He felt it conveyed a sense of luxury and would purposely make an athletic shoe appear non-athletic. The print was a hit and has endured, going perfectly with stark black and pops of Safety Orange throughout.
Remember the revolution. 1987 saw the birth of the Air Max lineage, showcasing visible Air for the first time. What began as an experiment in cushioning soon evolved into an icon on the track and the streets. Over the years, it is been re-imagined and re-tooled, but the heritage always remains.
